most people, having never actually met Alex, but just hearing about in in the media, assume he is just a partier who doesn't have a care in the world. While he does enjoy partying, and had certainly had his fair share of careless nights, he is a softie underneath it all. To his friends, he is the guy who will listen and make you a cup of tea or a beer if needed no matter the time of day. He always has time to go help out his mom at St. Mungos with entertaining the kids. If he wants something he will work his butt off until he gets it.
He just really doesn't like to commit to relationships. He is, despite all appearances, actually fairly insecure with relationships. He has been burned by people who just want the spotlight, and don't like him, so he's usually pretty reserved and prefers to enjoy casual relationships and flings.

Alexander Riley McLoughlin was born just moments before his twin brother on a sunny day to a mediwitch and auror. As family tradition, Alex had the same first name as his father, and growing up was usually referred to by his middle name, Riley. He didn't really start going by Alex until he was entering the professional quidditch world, and even then he still uses Riley outside of the sport.
When he was about 5 his dad was providing protection at the quidditch world cup and managed to score tickets for his brother and the twins. Their mother was all too happy to let him take the active boys out of the house for a couple days so she could focus on their siblings. Alex loved watching the world cup games, finding the action exhilarating. After the World Cup he would beg his dad to take him to the Ballycastle Bats games, and relished watching the players compete. He decided fairly early on, that if he could he would play the sport.
When they were 11, the twins headed off to Hogwarts. There the sorting hat had a difficult time deciding between Hufflepuff and Ravenclaw for Alex, but eventually went with Hufflepuff. His brother went into a different house, and for the first time the boys were separate. It was hard at first, but it became easier as the boys got used to it, and they were able to make their own lives.
Alex lived for flying class, and took to the broom like a fish in water. In his second year he was reserve seeker for Hufflepuff, and managed to break onto the starting line up his third year. Outside of flying, he did well in all of his classes, as his parents would have killed him if he didn't study as well as play quidditch. But he also enjoyed the classes, and looked forward to them all.
When he graduated he managed to get a place on Puddlermere United as a reserve seeker. He was only in that position for a year and has been the starter since his second year on the team, replacing the retired seeker. He was also given the honor a few years ago of being selected for the Irish National Team.
Outside of quidditch he has enjoyed partying and enjoying the spoils of becoming a star quidditch player. He has been in several relationships here and there, but has also enjoyed several flings. But he has never cheated on anyone. His mom raised him better than that.
